Why not a bed and breakfast for a change?
For a few years now, some Parisians have decided to open the door of their apartment to visitors. I know some of you, who went to Paris, left with the impression that the French people are not always nice. So this time, you may want to try a B&B to meet some Parisians, but also, to know a little bit more about the French culture (there's more than red wine and french fries).
It is becoming very popular, even for French people themselves, to get a couple of nights, or more, in one of the B&B in Paris.
The atmosphere is warmer than going to a regular hotel; you're not just a number. The rooms also, have more character than most of the rooms in hotels and, on the top of that, you will be able to get in touch with local people; the same ones you did not really appreciate the first time. You will also discover the French conviviality from a different view point. No matters what time you arrive the host will always be awake to welcome you. In the morning even if you have decided to stay under the cover, you will be able to appreciate a real french breakfast (everything is fresh from the morning).
In order to control the quality and develop B&B accommodation in private home, an association, the FPPCH (Federation des Professionnels Parisiens de la Chambre d'Hotes a Paris) was created by the mayor of Paris. This association has a quality charter, B&B Authentic, which home owners are obliged to adhere to.
Now, what asking more than a convivial room for two in the most romantic city in the world. Maybe, just for once, you could forget about a regular hotel and get the chance to know the French "savoir faire".
